We launched the National Alliance of Sport for the Desistance of Crime (NASDC) in October 2015 in London at the 2015 Beyond Sport Summit.

The purpose for NASDC is to support its members use the power of sport to prevent offending and rehabilitate offenders.

We are fortunate at 2nd Chance in that we come from a background of best practice in this field and therefore have the understanding in what the role of sport can play in both the community and the Criminal Justice System.

It is our belief and experience that sport is one of the most effective ways to engage people most in need of a second chance. We recently created a sector wide theory of change in partnership with New Philanthropy Capital and identified five key performance indicators that form best practice and provide a platform for measuring the effectiveness of sport in the desistance from crime.

Now we are working with key stakeholders to support and enhance the following areas:

Moving forwards we aim to work with our members and deliver best practice, policy and strategy. We will also continue building a global platform to share learning, information and celebrate success.

Finally we would like to thank our financial supporters Comic Relief, National Offender Management Service and Clinks.

If you would like to know how your support can help us achieve our mission then please contact us - we have many initiatives being designed by our members and service users through Positive Action Groups that will all have a significant impact on the safety of our communities and provide support from some of the most challenging and complex individuals in our society.
